Renaming files

Hi,
I recently updated to the latest version 2025.4.4
I tried to batch rename files - it didn't work. I can rename individual files.
It worked fine in older versions.
Are there some new features that require additional actions? Is it a bug?
I'd appreciate some help.

"It didn't work" can mean many things. What exactly did you do, and what was the problem?
Error message? Nothing renamed? Explosion?
Details help.

I've just renamed 100 files using one of the default Renamer presets and it worked without any problem.No reports from other users.

Hi,
As I mentioned, it's v2025.4.4, on Win 11 24H2.
I selected 15 files
Open Rename dialog
Clicked edit (pencil icon) and entered the text
Clicked Run
Selected images flickered once and that's it - the files' names didn't change.




Please let me know if you need any additional info.

I think the cause may be that there is no global number in the new filename.

So Imatch tries to rename them all to the samen, which obviously cannot be done.

Looks like it. No dynamic element, original name not used etc.
Did you use the Preview to see what the actual result is?

A couple of questions.
Global number: isn't it defined in the dialog by Global sequence and step?
What and why is the error: duplicate file name? Is it original file name or the new file name?

You have only one step that renames the source file to "Stroll in NCR...".
Hence, all source files will end up with the same name, and you get the corresponding error in the preview,

To add a unique number to your file name, you must include the corresponding step. See the pink step in this image: The Renamer Dialog Box and the corresponding documentation Global Sequence Number
