Recently Mario added simple arithmetic for variables/metadata I seem to recall. Today I wanted to read up on it.
I opened the help file and searched for variable arithmetic - found nothing.
I then searched for variables - found nothing, searched for arithmetic - nothing.  Searched for metadata - nothing.
Is that normal or do I use the help in a wrong way?
I am using the search field in the top right of the help home page.

When I search for variables or math, I get this:

Seems to work just fine here.

I found part of the problem already: One is not supposed to press Enter after entering the help text.

Then after found topics are listed and one selects one, one has to press ESC.

And then one has to search with ^F i.e. the browser search to find something within the topic.

The search result automatically updates while you type. No need to press <Enter>, the results show up immediately. This should be rather intuitive.

The browser displays the results at the top, and when you click on a result link, a preview of the content is displayed below the result.
If you have found the page you're looking for, press <ESC> or click on the close button to close the search results.

To search within a web page, use the search function in your browser which provides you with many powerful options.

Hmm... I had this same issue last week... typed a few items and hit enter which prevented the results from appearing... not sure if it is related - but I type super fast - so the help topics didn't show as I was typing... so i hit Enter.. which just brought up the help home page again.

I have disabled <Return> for the form so your browser no longer submits it when you press <Enter> while the input field has the focus.
The search starts 0.5s after you stopped typing so give it half a second to show some results. I don't want explicit <Return> for web forms.

I was on a very slow internet connection when I first did this - or I could have just missed the screen updating.
Later on it seemed to update immediately as I typed. Could it be that the first time one loads help it is slower?

Anyway I now know how to....

Jingo

Thx Mario... this will help.. and I'll slow down my typing as well... :P

On slow connections everything is slow.
When you open the help it needs to load the help index, resources in your language, start everything up etc. This can take a few seconds, especially if your browser cache is outdated or I have uploaded a new version of the help, which happens often. It also depends on your device. A smart phone is a lot slower than a desktop PC.

On a normal network and a desktop PC the help starts up in less than 2 seconds.
