Things becoming so expensive. I've just paid almost 600 US$ to renew my code signing certificate for another 3 years.
I must have this certificate in order to cryptographically "sign" IMatch installers, DLLs, executables etc. to avoid the scary

"The Publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software"

message when users try to run IMatch. Many browsers show even more scare warnings when you download an installer that is not signed or even refuse to run it. Edge is especially creepy.

If I sign the installer with my certificate, it is embedded into the executable and Browsers, Windows etc. can verify that the file is untampered and the certificate is still valid. This then produces this output in Windows Explorer (Properties):

When I got my first certificate maybe 10 years ago, I've paid maybe 40US$ per year. Now it's 200.

I can afford this thanks to all the awesome IMatch users who buy IMatch and support the project by purchasing upgrades.
