Hi Mario,
About 12 months ago we had a discussion about me migrating IMatch from my iMac to a dedicated Windows machine. After our discussions, I decided to wait for things to settle down with the new processors and configurations.

At the time, you had recently purchased a Dell laptop which was performing well with IMatch:
----------------
"I've just purchased a very fast Dell Inspiron and IMatch and my development environment work very well on it.
The laptop runs Windows 11 Pro, has 10 processor cores, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, a 16" 2560 pixel HDR non-touch screen, a very usable keyboard, multi-touch touch pad and a fast Intel on-board GPU and secondary NVidia GPU with 8 GB RAM for games and AI.

The 32GB RAM and the good keyboard are most important for me.
I type a lot and run many memory-hungry applications like Photoshop or containers. I've paid less than 1,300€ (~1,400US$) during Black Friday Week. For a 'professional' developer machine, this is a very good price."
----------------

I will soon be coming to Europe, (near Frankfurt actually) to stay with friends for several months so need to obtain a more 'portable' solution for IMatch than my iMac.

I am thinking of a Dell laptop with the following specs:

Processor
Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 255H (16 Cores, up to 5.1GHz Turbo)

Operating System
Windows 11 Home

Video Card
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5060, 8GB GDDR7, 45W

Display
16.3", Touch, 4K, 48-120Hz, OLED, 400 nits

Memory
32GB, LPDDR5X, 7467MT/s, integrated, dual channel

Storage
2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

I think this machine will do a reasonable job of editing movies with DaVinci Resolve and would like to ask if you think this configuration would be ok to run IMatch as well.

If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate your opinion.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Peter

IMatch runs fine on computers with much lesser performance. My development workstation system is slower than your laptop (or my laptop, in many areas) and it works perfectly fine with IMatch.

The standard rules apply. The more images you want to manage with IMatch, the more oomph your computer must have. A database with 50K to 100K is snappy on all computers released over the past 5,6,7 or more years. If you manage 500,000 assets or more, a fast computer with a fast SSD is recommended. Modern laptops are really fast. Fast memory, fast SSDs mean a lot when it comes to software like IMatch.

The 5060 can run smaller AI models like Gemma 3 4B, which is fine for writing descriptions and keywords. If you use AutoTagger and don't have very specific requirements that require a large cloud-based AI model to produce proper descriptions and keywords. Also should work nicely for standard games  :), software like Photoshop, Resolve, Blender etc. which use DirectX / GPU for fast processing.

I'm still very happy with my Inspiron laptop and use it every day for Windows and Linux.
