Metadata Tag in table layout doesn't work any more in imatch 2023

Hi,
I encountered a problem with a table layout. I had defined the layout in an older imatch version and it worked fine. Now, after update to imatch 2023, most table cells are empty. I did some research and found out that the layout definition forgets the entry "metadata tag" in "attribute".

I tried to create a new layout with metadata tag columns, but this also didn't work. I can choose the entry and the tag. But after confirmation there is no value in the table cells. If I reopen the layout editor it shows "empty row" instead of "metadata tag". Seems to be a bug.

Which IMatch version are you using? See Help > About.
IMatch 2023.1.14 is the latest version.

I had 2023.1.8

After update to 2023.1.14 I can get it to work, but it's very unstable. First I created 1 column, which worked. Then I added the next and accidently entered a wrong metadata tag. The result was that the first column was broken again.

In the next step I defined all columnes very carefully, which worked first. Then I opened the layout editor again, and confirmed it without having done any change (It was showing the metadata tags still, but "empty row" in "attribute"). Now all columns are lost. They are even not shown any more in the table. There are no entries any more in matadata tag in the layout editor.

I cannot reproduce this.
I've created a new layout with the columns: File Name, Title, Headline, Description.
Save. Works.
I open the layout again and replace Description with Hierarchical Keywords.
Save, Works.
Open the editor again and still every tag is there.

The bug you are describing is the one that was supposedly fixed for IMatch 2023.1.14.
I cannot reproduce this here. No tags lost, no instability.

Try creating a new layout from starrt as I just did.

I again created a new table layout and it happened again. I made a video of it and will send you a dropbox link to it.

I sent a PN with the dropbox link, but got an error message: "User 'Mario' has blocked your personal message."

Mario

Export and attach the layout as a ZIP.
I don't accept PMs here in the community. You can send me stuff via support email address.

Hi Mario, I wonder if you're still on track with my issue. Did you get my mail?

thrinn

I just was able to reproduce this issue:
Test 1:
  • Start in Media & Folders View.
  • Open layout editor, create a new Tabular View Layout.
  • For Column 1, set "Attribute" to "Metadata Tag"; select the Composite City Tag for "Tag":

  • Close the Layout Editor with OK.
  • Open the Layout Ediotor again.
  • Now, "Attribute" is set to "City", and "Tag" is empty:

It looks as if IMatch automatically replaces the tag with the shortcode - if there is any.

Now, open the Layout Editor again. This time I set again "Attribute" to "Metadata Tag", but I use a tag for which there is no shortcode (e.g. one of the Getty Images tags):

Close the editor with Ok, open it again.
Now, "Attribute" is set to "Empty item", which is wrong:

I hope it is easier to reproduce it using these steps.

@thrinn: Thanks for figuring out the details of the problem.

I have fixed this bug (and another glicht) for the 2023.1.18 release.

Very good.
That's the core idea of the first couple of weeks of such a massive IMatch release - for the users to identify and report the remaining bugs and glitches, and for me to fix them and ship timely updates.
