Hi,

I just purchased iMatch (Latest version of 22-01-2022) and want to transfer configuration settings from my old pc to a new pc.

I read the instructions in the online manual and it states to locate the IMatch.pts file and transfer it to a new pc.
https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#settings_db.htm

However, I cannot find any file ending with the .pts format.
Any suggestions where to find this file?
Cheers,

Luke

Hi:
Do you have these options checked?
I know it's in Portuguese , but follow the arrows.

If you have IMatch running on the old PC, just go to Edit menu > Preferences > Application.
The name (and folder) of the settings database is shown near the top, under Settings database filename.

The default is always

%PROGRAMDATA%\photools.com\IMatch6\config

When you copy this path into the Windows Explorer address bar, it will open the correct folder.

Tip: When you use a different user name on your new PC, your users settings will not be available (because they are tied to the user name).
You can use the Alias feature in IMatch to reclaim them. See User Name Alias

As zematime, I also suggest that the file extensions in the Explorer are not visible.

Mario

Yes, good point.

Not sure why Microsoft does that. To not confuse people...? Hiding file extensions can actually be dangerous, e.g. when a user double-clicks a file of which he thinks as a document, but it is an executable - could be dangerous.

Thank Sinus!

I was looking into the installation folder C:\ProgramFiles\Photools
My mistake.
I found it now.
I have attached a screenshot of both versions: The left panel shows the new install and the right panel the settings from the trial version.
Which ones should I copy?

LRAT

OK, no need to reply to my previous message.
I tried to overwrite the imatch.pts file but that didn't change anything.
I then went back to the online manual and it stated I should change the alias under settings to the name of the other computer. I did that and from then on I had all my settings back as they were on the other pc.
Just to make sure I wouldn't lose this I did a Pack & Go and stored it in a safe location on my NAS.
Thanks to all for your help!
Have a nice day!

Mario

Very good.

I mentioned the Alias setting above in my reply, with a Tip:  ;)

Thanks Mario!
That's where I got it from.
All good now.
