Export Categories

To save the names of all places in the category Places in a text file I exported the category Places with the tool Import & Export.
I checked the option "Include child categories" (see attachment).

But in the saved file Categories.imcsx I can't find a category name nor the hierarchy of the category.

The only thing in the file is the following:

"<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<category_schema xmlns:ptrm='http://schemas.photools.com/category_schema.xsd' vendor='photools.com' version='1.0'>
   <categories>
   </categories>

</category_schema>"

What is the problem?

You cannot export data-driven categories. Data-driven categories are automatically created from the actual metadata in your files.

You can export the actual data-driven category (the one which controls how the children are built), but none of the children will be exported.
The children are automatically created from the data in the database after you import the category again.

By the looks of your screen shot you have tried to export a child of a data-driven category, which of course won't do anything.

See Exporting Data-driven Categories in the IMatch Help.
