From the help:
QuoteIMatch updates the Person in Image XMP tag with the tags of all persons shown in the image.

What if there is a person on an image, but you can just see this person from the back. So face-recognition would not see a face since there is none, but the person is still on the picture.

  • Is it possible to assign persons on an image to the newly introduced People concept without having a face annotation for this person on that specific image (person is just shown from the back)
  • If 1. is not possible how to add (automatically (?) maybe via category assignment) additional persons to the XMP::iptcExt\PersonInImage tag?

Mario

You can always assign a person, even if IMatch is not able to detect a face.

See True Manual Face Annotations

And when a person is assigned that way, it works like any other person (including the metadata tag).

Thats true, but what if I have a person shown on an image and the head is off the image like the person standing on the right hand side (next to Joshua Miller; I think it is his mother) https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/content/images/en/app_20223.gif. There is a person on the image but without a face.

Say, you would add keywords or a description for this image for a business archive or also for private use, would you really WANT to add the name of this person?
From my point of view this would not make a lot of sense.
You would find the person .... and see the person without face.

Does really not make sense FOR ME, except this is the queen or something like that.

If I do some interview, a journalist with a vip, than sometimes the hand or back from the journalist is on the photo.
This would make no sense for me, to add the name of the journalist on such photos.
I would remark the name on pictures, where I can see this person, or, if not, then I would remark it on one photo, that it was an interview betwen this person and the vip.

The same would be true, if I take pics from my mother, who prepares a meal with my sister and I would see often the hand or back from my mother. In such pics I would not add the name of my mother.

But of course, this is only my point of view.
Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Two choices: Not add a person to the image. Or add a face annotation nearby the out-of-frame image and assign the person to it. Easy.
