Cannot uses Category panel in newly installed IM2018

Just installed IM2018.  The checked panels in the converted database included the category panel (CP).  I can use all th4e checked panels except the CP.  When I try to open it, IM crashes.  I have sent the dump file to Mario separately.  Meanwhile I cannot use the CP.  Has this problem been met before?

What do you mean by "checked panels"?

You have installed IMatch 2018 because

a) New install on a new computer?
b) Upgrade from IMatch 2017?
c) Repair?

Try to reset your workspace. Hold down <Ctrl> while starting IMatch, and then choose "Reset Workspace" in the Advanced Startup Options dialog:

Advanced Startup Options (Recovery)

The user interface toolkit sometimes crashes when restoring a tree control when it was saved "just in the wrong spot". I have reported this problem several times but no fix so far. It's rare, though.

In the View drop-down menu I have selected F9:  F, L, M, K, C, P

Resetting workspace had no effect.  Sequence went ctrl>open imatch>reset workspace>open database>select database>same workspace as before>F9,C>crash.

Next time, I did not do F9,C, but loaded my saved workspace and now all is well.
