I would like to be able to export selected files to a zip file.

Mario

Just drag the files from IMatch to a 7-Zip window (or WinRAR etc.). Or to an existing (empty) ZIP file to add them.

I'm not sure if this is a task done by many users often...probably nothing that requires a special feature in IMatch itself.

I wonder - it seems to me to be a useful feature.  I quite often wrap things in a zip file by selecting them in Windows and choosing right click>send-to.  Could not this be added to the context menu in Imatch?

Mario

Isn't it already (Use the Shell Menu command in the context menu of the file window): <Alt>+<Return>

Yes - I was not aware of this feature.  But I do see words Shell menu - see attachment.  The "send to" feature places the zip file in the same folder as the target files.  I would like a feature where I can direct the file to a folder of my choice.

Since it's already available with the same features as offered by Windows Explorer (which places the ZIP also in the same folder) I see even less reason for me to spend several working days developing a separate solution for IMatch.

Let's see how many +1 you get for your request. If there is a sufficient number of users who see a need for this, I will consider it for a future versions.

Whichever route one takes, the relevant folder has to be accessed.  This is often way down the folder hierarchy and takes time.  I am hoping for a more direct, faster method, direct from IMatch to, say the Desktop.

Right-click the file, then use the "Open in Explorer" command. Brings you right to the location of the file and ZIP.

Or, if you really need to specify the destination folder, you could install some tool that offers additional entries in the Windows shell menu. For example, I have the open source 7zip compression tool installed which adds "7Zip -> Add to archive" to the menu. This also appears in IMatch when you open the Shell Menu, and asks for the destination archive file name and folder.
But the solution Mario described is quite simple, in my opinion, and does not require you to install additional software.

OK - I can live with that.  Thank Mario & thrinn
