Mario,

With Album View active, when, under Media & Folders, a folder is selected which has 0 files but does have subfolders and the Hierarchy Setting is set to anything but Show Hierarchy, the File Window Toolbar disappears. This prevents one from changing the display settings or even conducting a search. When Show Hierarchy is active, the File Window Toolbar displays properly. However, in this case, the folder hierarchy is displayed without the Active View thumbnails, which seems inconsistent.

Thanks,
David.

IMatch will display the Album View in the situation you describe (empty folder with sub-folders, hierarchy display disabled). No files in scope.

The Album View shows no toolbar. This would make no sense since the view it shows only tiles representing the sub folders. The scope is empty (no files, hierarchy display mode off) so a search would be useless. The File Window has not loaded any file, which is what triggers the Album View.

Switch to a non empty-folder (click an Album tile) and enable the hierarchy display in order to disable the Album View. Then return to your original folder. It now will show files contained in sub-folders and the toolbar will be enabled and the search will work.

Mario,

I understand the "workaround", but it's unnecessarily inconvenient. If my focus is on a parent folder with no files, and I decide that I want to search the child folders or the entire database, I must refocus to a folder with files, reset the Show Hierarchy option and return to the parent folder. Why not just display the toolbar for the empty parent folder. It just seems to me that this is an upside case with no downside (except your needing to "tweak the code" - sorry about that).

Thanks,
David

IMatch cannot just display the toolbar when the Album View is active - because there is no File Window. The Album View replaces the File Window. All the logic would have to be rewritten in order to process toolbar actions when there is no File Window and only the Album View. This won't fly, sorry.

If this is an issue for you, I recommend you disable the Album View via Edit menu > Preferences > File Window and return to the previous mode of operation with the "No Files" display.

I have thought about this and decided to implement a feature that temporarily disables the Album View for the current scope:

When the user clicks the Disable button, the File Window switches back to the normal "No Files" view. When you switch to another folder / category, the Album View is automatically re-enabled. It will show again when you click on an empty folder/category with children.

This allows the user the re-enable the regular File window and ribbon in order to perform a file drop or enabling the hierarchical display mode etc.

When I say IMatch is developed in close cooperation with the user base, this is what I mean.
