Dear Mario, dear all,
I would like to fill some metadata fields with IPTC-Data, so that Google will show it's licensable badge and link to the exact image in my webshop.

See background information from IPTC (https://iptc.org/standards/photo-metadata/quick-guide-to-iptc-photo-metadata-and-google-images/) and Google (https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/structured-data/image-license-metadata).

The following IPTC-fields seem to be necessary:

Web Statement of Rights / Copyright Info URL - {File.MD.XMP::xmpRights\WebStatement\WebStatement\0}
Licensor: Name
Licensor: URL

I have not been able to locate

'Licensor: Name' and 'Licensor: URL' fields in IMatch. I only found this

{File.MD.XMP::iptcExt\ArtworkOrObjectAOCurrentLicensorName\ArtworkLicensorName\0}

but this doesn't seem to be right one.

Which fields would be the right ones to use?

Thank you very much for your help!

Regards,

kkiel

Google here refers to the License tags which are part of the PLUS XMP. Google refers to that (https://www.useplus.com/).
I've just searched for plus in the Tag Selector dialog.

Create a new Metadata Panel layout and add the tags you need, or add the tags to an exiting layout. See Metadata Panel Layouts
Then you can fill in your data and it should show up in Google (see also https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/structured-data/image-license-metadata#iptc-photo-metadata).

Hi Mario,

thank you very much for your fast reply on a Sunday! When I search for Plus (before my question I tried with 'licen'), I get not results, see screenshot.
Do I have to activate some kinds of metadata-versions or so?

Regards,

kkiel

"Nur Felder mit Daten anzeigen" bitte deaktivieren.
Ansonsten siehst du nur Tags, für die auch Daten in der Datenbank vorhanden sind.

Mario

You're welcome.

As far as I can tell, from all the Plus Tags Google seems to use only the URL tag, right?
I maybe add this to the Default Metadata Panel layout (next to Copyright URL / Web Statement).

Adding this to the Default Metadata Panel layout (next to Copyright URL / Web Statement) would be nice, I think more photographers would like to add the google licensable batch no that it's possible to show information about copyright in Google.

LicensorName seems to be important for Google, too.

You can see how this works when you search for images with google, click 'tools' under the search bar, click 'usage rights' and chose one of the images with licensable badge, for example from istock. This leads you to their product/sales page.

Thanks again for your great support!

Mario

I know how this works. But the examples I've checked did not contain any PLUS information, only the common XMP tags for copyright, url, author etc.
And this is what Google used.

The only reference to PLUS I could find (https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/structured-data/image-license-metadata#iptc-photo-metadata) is the Licensor URL, but only as a recommended field.
The standard XMP Web Statement (default in IMatch) is marked as required.

The IPTC (https://iptc.org/standards/photo-metadata/quick-guide-to-iptc-photo-metadata-and-google-images/) also only mentions the Licensor URL.
The classic Web Statement is used to indicate the copyright holder etc. and the Licensor URL is used to link to the agency or supplier where you can purchase it.

Licensor Name is not mentioned by IPTC or Google. Do you have more info or a link?

Mario

Thanks. Have you tried this actually with one of your images on Google?
If this is the only reference, it might be wrong or outdated. Or Google decided not to mention this in their official spec and the IPTC neither. Can happen.

I'm uploading the first batch of images with hopefully complete metadata right now. I'll inform you how it worked out.

Thanks again!

This is the information I followed and it works. https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2020/08/make-licensing-information-for-your
In my case it took weeks before the badge started showing up.

kkiel

It took 1-2 weeks, but filling the IMatch metadata fields

{File.MD.PLUS::XMP\LicensorLicensorName\LicensorName\0}
{File.MD.XMP::xmpRights\WebStatement\WebStatement\0}
{File.MD.PLUS::XMP\LicensorLicensorURL\LicensorURL\0}

works: The google licensable badge is now visible on the images in my shop.

Thanks to all,

kkiel

Mario

I have added the Licensor URL and Licensor Name tags to the Default MD Panel layout (below the already existing web statement tag).
