Mario posted a topic on announcements about recent video tutorials:
https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=7714.0

Although I'm a long time user of IMatch I learned a few workflow tricks by watching these recent videos

Working with metadata: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm7XETY3tpA
Here Mario gives a nice demo (by the way I'm most impressed at how fast he can type!!!)
I learned a few tricks, I didn't know about, e.g., the use of the "green arrow button"

The IMatch Universal Thesaurus:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jPi9owM6UI&t=207s
I now finally see the use of this tool and ow it can save typing

Working with Keywords: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_z4KgjLoqw
This has shown me many tricks that I was not aware of, e.g., how to remove keywords in batch. (I used to have a convoluted method of performing this operation)

The Smart @keywords Category in IMatch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gP0KdHUTG0&t=325s
This has been most informative, showing how to use multilevel keywords

Spend a few minutes viewing, I consider that the time spent will be paid back many times by improving your efficiency.

Aubrey.

PS: I'm not sure if youtube may change the URLs, in any case a search in YouTube for "Photools" will bring up the videos.

I'm happy to hear that the videos have been useful to you.
Actually seeing and hearing something is very different than just reading it in the help. Most users learn much easier from videos.

I'm fully aware of that. That's why I've spend money on a (fairly expensive) software to make screen recordings and even on a usable voice mike.
Unfortunately, there is never enough time...I would like to do some more videos (on topics like categories, Design & Print, Renamer, Map Panel, Import & Export ...) but I'll have to squeeze that into available free time slots.

Quotethe use of the "green arrow button"
Yes. Dang. Should have said green hook button (did so in the Keyword Panel videos). Usually you don't need this because IMatch saves your changes automatically. But in a video showing things is important, not relying on some automatic in the background.

Special effects...  ;)

I was going to complement you on the videos as well but the announcement video doesn't allow responses.. .should have considered creating a topic like Aubrey did!  I also found them to be great and learned a few tricks as well.  Also, nice to hear your voice again.... now we just need a face photo!   :P

Comments on: "Working with Keywords in IMatch"

I'm still trying to get my head around this. I use hierarchical categories (defined in the categories panel) I'm now wondering if these are obsolete and I should be categorizing by keywords. I'll ponder on this for a few days, and view again the videos and read the help file

In "Working with Keywords in IMatch" Mario has a layout named "Keywords", it might be useful for this to be placed in the default list when IMatch is distributed... I'll await comments before generating an enhancement request....

In the meantime would Mario share the "Title and Keyword" layout so that we can import it... no point in reinventing the wheel  :)

Mario

The Title and Keywords is a standard File Window Layout. it is installed when you install IMatch:

"C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch6\Presets\system.imfwl"

You can load it from there, merging with your existing file window layouts, then removing unwanted layouts.

It is usually best to place keywords in the XMP keywords. This shares them with other applications, and the magic of @Keywords will unfold.
For all organization / classification you don't want in the file, you use categories,
Advanced features like Aliases, formulas etc. are only available in IMatch categories. But this combines neatly with @Keywords, which gives you the best of both worlds.

I'll add my own thanks for the videos as well.  I've just gone through the Smart @keywords Category in IMatch video, and learned a lot.  IMatch is DEEP and POWERFUL!

I had never run across these videos, I would suggest adding links to them in the IMatch Help. Thank you Aubrey for making the post :)

There is a big link right at the welcome page in the help (the first page that opens).
There are multiple links on the front page at www.photools.com and on every IMatch and IMatch Anywhere™ page.
I announce new videos via my Facebook and Twitter channels, in this community and of course on the photools.com YouTube channel.
Maybe subscribe to one of these low-noise channels to never miss important information.

It is hard to figure out where users are looking for information like this. Despite my efforts, it seems you have missed them  ;)
