How I do it best with the Map from IM2017

Hello
Adding some images, look up in the map, and seach the city, adress and so on, all this worked perfectly for me with IM5.
See attachement 1.

With IM2017 I have some troubles to get the same datas.
I select some images. Then I search for the loacation.

This works.
But now I want also to add the City, State and Street.
For this I took in IM5 "Lookup all". But I cannot find this anymore, although in the help I found it.
Attachement 2.

And I found even my old preferences (Kanton...) in the new preferences!  :) Super.
(attachement 3)

But it works not.
I am sure, Ido something wrong, but I cannot find, what.

I want simply do the same like with IM5:
-Select some images.
-Find the location
-Do a "Lookup all" to find the City, state (Kanton) and Street
-Add this to all selected fields.

What do I wrong, what is the correct way to do so?

But this does not work her, City, State and Street will not be written into the images.

In attachement 4 you can see, what data I get with IM5.
With IM2017 I geht only GPS Latitude and GPS Longitude.

Missing is City, Kanton (State), Sublocation and GPS Altitude

Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

I'm not sure that I can understand what you are talking about.

The Reverse Geo-code dialog you show in your screen shot is identical in IMatch 2017 and also has the "Lookup All" button.
What happens if you click the button? Error message? No data retrieved? No data written to the database?

I have just used it. It works perfectly. All selected files get their address and when I write-back the files, the data is written to the image.

QuoteAnd I found even my old preferences (Kanton...) in the new preferences!  :) Super.

You found old preferences for what and where?
Or do you mean locations in the map panel? I have tried them as well and they work.
Or maybe you mean a Metadata Template?

Just did that. Works here.
Make sure that all files have GPS coordinates before you open the "Reverse Geo-code" dialog box. Or enable the automatic reverse geo-coding (Edit > Preferences > Geo & Mapping). Then you only need to set a GPS coordinate for the file in the Map Panel and IMatch will fill in the city etc. automatically.

I cannot find in IMatch 2017 the "Lookup All"  button. It is not here.

Sorry to be unclear.
I try to attach all my steps.

1) select two images
2) Open the map-app
3) Search for a city and street
(attachment 1)

4) Choose the second one at the bottom of the box (Neudorfstrasse, 6027 Römerswil)
5) The map does find it
(Attachment 2)

6) Apply this position to all selected files, I choose yes
(attach 3) the icon appears on the thumbs, all if fine

7) I want to add City and so (Reverse-geo-code). I find only the "goto Location", I click on it
(attach 4)

8) The box opens, but it opens with another location, not the actual one.
And I see no "lookup All"-button.
I thought, the actual location will pop-up, I can choose "Lookup All", choose the correct one, and thats it.
Like in IM5.
(attachment 5)

Maybe I do not see the correct button?
In IM5 I could now select "Lookup All" button, choose the correct location, and with ok leave the box and all found data (city, state, Street) was written to all selected files.

Sorry, I found my old preferences, like in the attachement "all.jpg" in the first post here, where I had formatted city (with post-code ahead) and the state with "Kanton" ahead. I had done this in IM5 and the same preferences are here in IM2017.

I hope, I have explained it better now.

Hi Markus - I think part of the issue is that the help file still shows the old map panel with the reverse geocode icon which doesn't exist in the new IM2017 Map panel.  If you use the shortcut Ctl-M,G, the reverse geocode panel will present and the option to Lookup All will be present.

Using the 'globe' icon in the metadata window works for me.

Ah!

Great, John, thanks a lot!

I searched for this blue "world-icon" in the map itself, but came not on the idea, to look in the metadata-panel.

In Im5 this icon was in the map, what made sense to me.
But now I know, I have to look in the Metadata-panel.

So the problem is solved!  :)

PS: in the map works Ctrl m, g ... but I do not remember such things, hence I use more icons!

Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Using the Edit Location dialog of course not do anything with the metadata in your files.
This is not the Reverse Geo-code dialog box. And hence no Lookup All button.

If you confuse Locations with reverse geo-code, please use the help to learn about what locations are and how you can use them to speed up your workflow.

To reverse geo-code one or more file:

+ Click the Globe button in the Metadata Panel or
+ Go to Tools > Reverse geo-code or
+ Press Ctrl+M, G

or, preferred, enable the automatic reverse geo-coding. IMatch then performs reverse geo-coding automatically when you assign a GPS coordinate to a file.

I have updated the screen shot to show the Metadata Panel.

sinus

Thanks, Mario, great, very good.

And thanks for update the help!

Andy was right (sorry, Andy, I have overseen your post  8)) I have read the help, but was abit confused and also not that clever.  ::)

Mario

I have now added a reverse-geocoding button to the file popup in the map panel.

This took only about 15 minutes, including adding a new endpoint (!) to the iMWS embedded in IMatch and updating the release notes. A cool enhancement that will be useful for many users. That's why I say that the app infrastructure allows me to do things much faster.

I need maybe 10 minutes (!) extra to update the help system with new screen shots. Need to find a way to make that faster too...

sinus

Oh, cool, super.

Great, that you could do this in such a short time.
You and IMatch are getting faster and faster... and even better!  ;D
Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Thanks Mario - I had started to investigate what it would take to add such a button to the map panel app - was going to use a "hack" to get it to happen... nice to see you added standard functionality for this!

Many thx....

Mario

It's not really often needed on the Map so this should do.
You are always faster by letting IMatch do it automatically, or just pressing the keyboard shortcut while the files are selected in the file window.
