Pack and Go - Same user names on both machines

I have now created a user on my laptop with the same name as on my desktop machine.

I have performed a pack and go and transferred database and associated files to laptop.
After unpacking I note the following:

   I don't have the same screen layout as on my desktop (i.e., Media and Folders points to another folder)
   I still don't see my batch presets, yet the user account names appear to be the same.

What might I be doing wrong?

Computer- and display-related settings are stored per computer - because your other computer can have another display resolution or layout.

Batch Processor settings are stored per user. If the user name is identical and you have copied your settings database to the other computer, it should work. I just checked the settings database and all import/export settings are only linked to a user name.

If you restore the settings database, pay special attention to warnings about files which could not be replaced due to security settings on your other machines. P&G will report this. If your settings database cannot be replaced because of missing file system privileges, you will still work with your old settings database. See also the corresponding notes in the P&G help.

Finally working as it should!

I suspect my issue was that I was initially using a different user name when I first installed and performed the Pack-and-Go on the laptop.

My procedure was (and these steps are probably not necessary, but it worked for me  :) )
Remove all the folders on the laptop from C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch5, then copy the those folders from the desktop PC.
then did a restore on the laptop using the pack and go file that had previously been created on the desktop PC with the database file included.

Usually you don't need to delete the existing files and folders. Pack & Go will replace them anyway.
The only problem may be that Windows does not allow P&G to replace one or more files because the user under which you run P&G on the other machine (the user which you use to log in) has no write privileges for that folder.

If it's any consolation, I have the same problem - I have to delete the files in that folder first.  I've checked and rechecked all the permissions and I can't see a problem with them.

I also find that I have to run P&G under administrator to get the files replaced on the laptop.

In all these cases, just setting the file system privileges for the folder C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch5 correctly once in Windows Explorer solves the troubles.

Make sure that "Authenticated Users" or at least the user under which you run P&G can read/write/modify the folder, all sub-folders and all files contained within. Don't forget to push these settings to all files and sub-folders. Depending on how you have configured your security, you may need to un-check the "inherit from parent folder" setting and copy the security settings from there as well. Basic procedure.

If you have never worked with Windows file system permissions, have a look at the Windows help or consult online references. Security is unfortunately a bit complicated in most operating systems, because - well I don't know. It should be simple, but isn't.
