V 25.5.2

Added a new keyword to roughly 300+ photos.  Wrote back changes. Went to dashboard.  Keyword should show up, but histogram not showing it.  Clicked dashboard [refresh].  Still no new keyword in histogram; doesn't seem to be updating?  See attached.

Mario

I cannot tell this from a screen shot.
Are there enough files for this keyword to make the Top-20?
Did you close and reopen the database to see if it updates? The data is calculated fresh in that case.

Yes I drew a red line where the new category should roughly be (300).  So, yes, the new keyword would make the Top-20.

Q: close and reopen database?

So, the [Refresh] on the dashboard doesn't refresh that stats?  That's not at all intuitive.

Mario

Stats are updated in the background, when the system has idle time. The F5 reloads the Dashboard, but does not trigger all the background operations that produce the data shown in the dashboard to run immediately.
When I recall correctly, it monitors system events and when files are added/removed/changed or metadata is changed, it refreshes the stats. Unless the background processing queue is active, because the background tasks most likely invalidate the data used by the dashboard several times per second. Maybe this was the case? I cannot tell from the small screen shot.

I close and reopened the DB and now the category keyword shows up in the dashboard stats.

Is there any other way to flush all background processes without closing the DB?

Mario

This is all automatic, usually. The dashboard reacts on events, and the Top N panel reloads, unless the background processing queue is working on tasks.

If you are in a hurry and want to force a complete recalculation of everything even if the queue is busy, just reload the database.
