I want to delete just the nef file but also lose the tif file

Hello all.
A problem: I have my raw files (nef) in folder A. When I want to work with a specific raw file I copy it (in Imatch) to folder B.

Then I develop and manipulate the raw file in DxO Photolab and export the tif file back to folder B.

So now in folder B I have the copy of the original raw file and the tif file developed from it.

Now when I delete (in Imatch) the now redundant copy of the raw file from folder B, Imatch at the same time deletes the tif file. Obviously I would like the tif file to remain:) So, please, what to do? Thank You.

Please don't use a bold font for your entire post. This is similar to SHOUTING all the time. Thanks.

This sounds like you have created a file relation buddy file rule which makes the TIFF file a buddy of the NEF file. And in that case, the TIFF buddy will be deleted when the corresponding NEF master is deleted.

See File Relations: Buddy Files in the help system for full details.

I don't understand why you copy the RAW file into B before editing it? Is this required somehow?

Solution: Go to Edit menu > Preferences > File Relations and disable the buddy file rule for NEF.

If you don't want to move, copy, rename, delete the TIFF buddy file when the NEF is moved, copied, renamed or deleted, just don't make the TIFF a buddy file.

First of all, thank You so much for a prompt answer and sorry about the bold font. I wrote the text first in Google Docs and (without bold) just copied it here. After copying there was no bolding but somehow it turned to bold. Sorry, I had no intention of shouting.

In File Relations / Relations Definitions do I just uncheck (B) Nikon nef and (V) Nikon nef?

No, it is not necessary to copy the nef file to another folder. It is just something I tried.

Mario

(B) is the buddy rule. If you don't want versions for NEF either, also disable the (V) rule.
