Search the file window

I select a folder in the Media & Folders tree; files show in the file window.

I want to search the File Window, yet there seems to be no option but to search the whole database.

Option to search the file window contents only seems to work for categories.

Can that really be the case? What have I missed?

(I have followed the instructions in the Help System on searching - but they imply a default behaviour the doesn't seem to be...well, default. Clicking 'enter' does nothing. The search box sticks at 'Search the database...')

What is your search criteria?  I only search for file names and it works for me.

As a test I selected a folder whose subfolders contain all files taken from 2010 through 2019.

Then I searched for all file names that contain _623.

The result shows all file names containing _623 from years 2010 through 2019.

I don't have that problem. When the disk icon to the right of the search box looks like this, the whole database is searched:

You cannot view this attachment.

When I click it, it changes to this, and only the current file window is searched:

You cannot view this attachment.

Each File Window has it's "own" search bar, with settings. As #sybersitizen points out, most likely you have enabled the database-wide search in the Media & Folders View. See Database-wide Search
