Metadata vs categories - IMatch newbie confusion

I have entered some country/city information as categories and other directly into metadata (Location panel).
(How) can i syncronize?

What do you mean by "Location Panel"?

If you refer to the default "IMatch Standard Categories|Image Files|Location category

These are data-driven categories and they refresh automatically when metadata changes.
But you must enter location data: These categories are based on the Location Shown metadata tag set. You edit the location in the "6. IPTC Location":

Location tags exist in several metadata standards, from IIM3 IPTC to Composite to XMP IPTC Location. The Map Panel, IMatch Locations, reverse geocoding all fill the IPTC Location tags. You fill in location data in the Metadata Panel in this layout. IMatch then takes care that location data is properly mapped during write back.

The Default Metadata Panel layout also shows these tags:

If you don't see these tags, you missed the information about the new Metadata Panel layouts included in IMatch 2025 and did not import them.
