In my autofill templates, the individual value lines often differ only slightly - hence the following suggestion:

I would like to add short information to the individual value lines of an autofill template that should NOT be transferred to the tag field. This could include explanations of the content, especially for longer rows, in order to recognise differences more quickly (analogous to column and row titles in a table). For example, two almost identical lines could only differ in that in one line only code, country, province.... etc. are entered in one line, and the GPS values of defined locations in the next.

This is a suggestion, I cannot estimate the effort involved in realising it.

So etwas wie eine Kommentarspalte?

Like a comment column?

Since this gathered a number of likes quickly and it makes sense to me, I toyed around with it for a bit today.
It's not to hard or time-consuming to implement I guess. Extend objetct model to store a comment per row, IMWS endpoint enhancement, a new first column in the AutoFill editor, showing an extra column in the AutoFill selector dialog when there is at least one comment, enhancing the search to also include comments. Making mew screen shots for the help system and add text to explain the comment etc. Maybe a workday or two?

For example:

Hallo/Hello  Mario,

I am pleased that other interested parties have been found, that you have taken up this suggestion and that there is obviously a good chance of realising it.

I have implemented this useful addition. In the AutoFill editor it looks like in my last screen shot above, and in the AutoFill template selector dialog, it looks like this:

I decided to use a contrast color for the comments. Good or bad?
If a template has no comments at all, the Comment column is hidden automatically.

wolboe

Das sieht sehr gut aus!
- Was spricht gegen eine (die gleiche?) Kontrastfarbe im Editor?

This looks very good!
- what is the case against a (the same?) contrasting colour in the editor?

Mario

Dark blue is not really visible when the background is dark gray. Which is why I always use the orange color for contrast, in all apps (the AutoFill editor is an app).

Orange does not really have a good contrast with a white window background, which is why I use blue in this case.
I could also just use a lighter shade of gray to highlight the comment in that window, but that does not play well with high-contrast themes or other colors used when assistive technologies are enabled in Windows.

wolboe

Convinced,
if the comment in the editor also appears in orange - ok.
In the screenshot above only the word "comment" is in orange.

Mario

That's because the comment field has the input focus. The comments are shown in orange when not focused.

This feature has been implemented for the next release. See https://www.photools.com/release-notes/ for more information.
