Hi,
I just bought IMatch and am in the process of indexing files from many years, till now spread all over the place.
Whilst the indexing is going on, I am jumping through some of the videos and the online help pages. It obviously is going to be a steep learning curve, and I would like some help... the most important question I have right now is : once I have located the image I am looking for, how do I open it in Photoshop, Affinity Photo, ON1...?

Welcome to the community.

Not really. The basic things you do in a DAM, like finding files, browsing files, viewing files, renaming, moving and copying files are very easy and by design very similar to Windows Explorer and other software.

But IMatch is a pro-grade fully-featured DAM. It can do maaany things and it will take you some time to learn about them and decide which features you want to use. IMatch users typically use maybe 50% of IMatch - but every user uses different 50%.

Very easy. Start here: Opening Files in Other Applications

Especially Affinity Photo is not that easy in case you have choosen to install Affinity with the MSIX installer and not the "traditional" MSI/EXE installer.
In case you used teh MSIX installer, this will help you:

Welcome to IMatch Kiwisaurus!

In addition to the what the others have suggested, here's the way I configured IMatch to send the currently selected file to Affinity Photo when Affinity Photo was installed using the msix installer.

Go to the Favorites tab then right click an empty spot in the Favorites window and choose New External Tool

Below is a screenshot of how I filled in the fields in the New External Tool dialog.

IMatch can create favorites for applications installed from the Microsoft Store or using MSIX installers.
See Applications Installed from the Microsoft Store. There is a dedicated command in the right-click context menu in the Favorites Panel.

This makes it very comfortable to create Favorites to open selected files in external applications in MSIX format.

This link seems to be broken, or at least not point to the right spot, or I have an issue with my cache.

Thanks, John. That example is very helpful. On my first try, Affinity 2 offered to open previous files, but I closed that AP window and clicked the 'Send to..' Favorite again; worked fine then.

Strange. I've fixed the link in my post and here it is again. Does this work?

Details, please? If you find a broken link, click on the feedback link at the bottom of the page and let me know.

I have had to restructure the help to make the Google Bot more happier when indexing the help. These days, you have to write your web site for the Google Bot first, then for people.

Maybe I have introduced some issues for some browsers?
