People Category

In older versions of iMatch, when I identified a face, an entry was added to the "People" category with the name.  I then used the subcategories of People in a number of data driven categories for sets of families and other groups.  This all seemed to quit happening around 2020.  Is there another way to use people in data driven categories?

IMatch automatically organizes images based on the people shown in the image in the The People View]People View[/url].
There you can also work with Families and Teams.

IMatch never used a People category for persons. Unless I forgot.
How is this category set up? Data-driven category? Formula-based category?

If you want to duplicate the people-based organization as a category, see this advice in the People help topic: Tip: Automatic Categories for Persons which explains how to create a data-driven category based on person data.

I resolved this by adding a keyword in the person editor. e.g if the person was John Doe, in the person editor for "Doe, John" I added the keyword "Who|People|Doe, John" whenever a face is confirmed.  The only issue is htat I will have to update every person in my database.  Unless I can find a way to automate the process.

Another issue is that I used to have a custom panel to update specific metadata items, Title, Description, Author, Location and Date Taken.  After updating to version 2025, this custom panel has disappeared.

Installing an update does not change or remove custom Metadata Panel layouts. Re-importing the new panel layouts is always optional and manually triggered by the user, and you have the option to merge in new layouts.

You did not specify how your "people" category worked, but I'm sure there is no change in IMatch 2025 that would cause an existing data-driven or formula-based category based on people variables to fail.

Backward compatibility is always high on my list, and if there is ever a "breaking change", I document it in the release notes.

My apologies, my custom panel was not missing, it just took me a while to find it.
