Hello,

I have changed the file name with the renamer on a larger number of files.
In doing so, I accidentally changed file names that should not be changed.
I noticed the error before writing back the metadata. The pen icon is still visible for all changed files.
Is there a way to prevent the writing of the metadata and restore the old state?

If you rename files, IMatch renames the files in the Windows file system. This is immediate.
This has nothing to do with metadata stored in the image or the database, and there is no undo for renaming files.

However, if this is the first time you have renamed the files, you can restore the original file names by renaming the files using the {File.MD.XMP::xmpMM\PreservedFileName\PreservedFileName\0} metadata tag. IMatch preserves the original file name in this tag when you rename a file (for the first time only!).

Setup a Renamer template which renames the file to the content of this variable.
