Hi, I am very new to iMatch.  I need to identify a huge swath of my photo collection to make copies to give to my Ex.  Once I export the copies, I will no longer need to keep that particular tag.  What would be the best method to tag them so that I can later remove all of that particular tag from all selected photos with one command?  A pin, flag, or keyword perhaps?

Thanks.

Mario

You are free to choose. Use a bookmark, pin, dot, flag.
Or add these files to a special "Ex" category - see categories for more information.
Whatever works best for you.

Thanks.  On further reading I see that pins or dots may be best to avoid writing metadata to the files since I will be removing the pins after one download.

"Changes made to the bookmark, flag, dot or pin collections are recorded in the IMatch database. These collections are not part of the XMP or other metadata stored in your file. This makes these collections very fast because IMatch does not need to write data to image file when you manipulate collections."

The same is true for all categories, except for the special @Keywords Category, which automatically synchronizes with hierarchical keywords in the XMP data.

You say:
QuoteOnce I export the copies, I will no longer need to keep that particular tag.

If you remove the images then whatever collection tag you use will be gone on its own.
If you continue to keep the images then I would suggest you assign a category so you can find them again
(or filter them out in normal use).
