A couple of quick questions. I think I know the answers, but want to make sure before I start diving into keywords. When adding hierarchical keywords, is it possible for
Mammals|Dogs to be inserted/displayed as Mammals, Dogs?

Also, is there any opportunity to insert an entire set or hierarchy at one click? For example, if I have a large set of residential construction keywords, instead of checking each one in a hierarchy to add it as a single unit?

Thanks

Jingo

Check out the detailed help for all your answers (and even more!): https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#md_keywords_panel.htm

The short answer, yes.. you can display your individual keywords but it depends upon where you are displaying them.  I use hierarchical keywords and use "short" keywords on my thumbnail display:

For multiple keywords, GPS and tons of other "one stop shopping", take a look at metadata templates (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#md_templates.htm) and favorites (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#fav_basics.htm)

Enjoy!

There are 3 totally different keywords. A hierarchical keyword without a hierarchy is just a flat keyword, on the top level.

Mammals
Dogs
Mammals|Dogs

Display where?

Quotels, is there any opportunity to insert an entire set or hierarchy at one click?

A set is what? A set of keywords? From the same section in your hierarchy (e.g. insert a keyword and all its children), or keywords from all over the place)?
Have you read the information yet about the IMatch Thesaurus? How synonyms work? The Universal Thesaurus
The Keywords Panel offers tons of features to make adding and editing keywords for large sets of files quick and easy.

Other ways to add multiple keywords from any part of your hierarchy are Favorites based on the @Keywords Category. Since @Keywords represents all keywords in your files, and assigning one or more files to a @Keywords category adds the corresponding keywords, you can create favorites and assign any number of keywords to a file with a single mouse-click or keyboard shortcut. Very efficient.

Tip: There is a topic giving tips for faster keywording in the IMatch Did You Know? app. You can run this app directly from the Help menu.
DYK offers tons of helpful tips and tricks for new and experienced users. Highly recommended.
