Hi,

iMatch seems not to like MPEG-2 videos.

The same behaviour as Lightroom. Is this due to licence reasons or do I have to install any codec packs?

File extension is *.mpg

Thx.

Mario

You define failed as what?
Is the file not added to the database?
IMatch crashing?
No thumbnail produced for the file?
Which file extension do your MPEG-2 files use?

I try to clarify this:

iMatch doesn´t display a thumbnail. It only show the VLC icon. It seems to index the file because the file name is displayed an also I can right-click it and open it with VLC e.g.

Mario

OK, the file is added. Everything is alright.
In order to render thumbnails for video files, IMatch uses the built-in support in Windows. And then it depends on the installed application set, codecs, the current moon phase and whatnot if Windows can produce a thumbnail for video files. IMatch itself does not contain built-in support for extracting thumbnails from video files.

Ah, ok.

Is it possible to create a thumbnail with another application and then group or stack it together with the video file in iMatch?

Mario

You can setup a version and use this version as the visual proxy. E.g. a JPEG file created in your video processing application. IMatch uses this visual proxy to as the thumbnail, the slide show, in the viewer etc.

See File Relations in the help for details.
