I am trying to use the Search Bar in the File Window. After I enter a search criterion and hit enter, I get an error message: You don't have any search options enabled. Click on the X button next to the search bar. However, this X button is not visible. I believe it shouold be between the search bar and the Filter icon, but it is not there.

Welcome to IMatch!

When you haven't set any search options the X won't be there, instead you should see a magnifying glass icon.  Click the down arrow next to the magnifying glass icon to set your search options.  See attached screenshot.

The X button has been already renamed to 'magnifying glass' button for the next IMatch release.

Thanks. My mistake to think setting search options wasn't necessary.

By default, the option "Frequently used Tags" is enabled. This works in almost all cases.
Limiting the search to particular tag sets (and/or user-defined tag sets) can focus the search scope and avoid returning unwanted matches.

Searching only in specific tags will speed up searches in large scopes (many files in the File Window) or when searching the entire database. Not so relevant if your database has 50,000 files, but quite a time-saver when your database has 500,000 or a million files.

But IMatch needs to know where you want to search, or it can search nothing. This is why it puts up the warning when the user has disabled all tag sets and thus tells IMatch to search nowhere.
