View images with the highest quality

How can I see the images at maximum quality in the viewer (enter hotkey) when I have cache of those images?

I have searched in the configuration but I cannot find an option so that it does not use the low quality cache

Mario

IMatch always uses cache images, except for JPEG files.
If you use the default settings of 100% cache files, IMatch uses whatever your camera has stored in the RAW 1:1. It then depend on how "good" the quality of the JPEG produced by your camera is.
For other formats, IMatch uses modern technologies to create JPEG cache files from the source material.

There is no "highest quality".

To judge RAW files, use a software which develops the RAW data, using algorithms and settings you consider suitable for your files. Different RAW processors (Lightroom, C1, DxO, ...) produce different results for the same RAW files.

For other file formats, open them with <Alt>+<Enter> in the producing application, video processor, audio editor, image editor of your choice.

Thanks Mario.
Actually the problem is that the jpg looks better outside of imatch than from the internal viewer. I think what is displayed in imath is the cache image in low quality.
Is it possible to tell it not to use that image and use the original image?

Mario

IMatch loads the JPG files from the cache straight into the graphic card, and uses Windows DirectX which uses top-notch hardware-based algorithms to color-manage, scale and render the JPEG directly via the GPU on screen.
It has never been reported that the cache images IMatch has produced look "worse" in IMatch than outside.

Please provide your cache settings, sample images you have used for your test, the software you have used to look at IMatch cache images "outside of IMatch", the scale you have looked at the images in IMatch (fit-to-window, 100%, ...), the graphic carf you use, screen shots of IMatch which show us what you see etc.

Please see this feature-request which is related to this topic: https://www.photools.com/community/index.php/topic,12850.0.html

Unfortunately, it does not have many likes.

Hello Mario, the problem is the same as Axel's, I would like to be able to see my images in high quality when I have access to the high quality images in JPEG.

Mario

You don't answer my questions, which makes it impossible to help you.
I don't even know what your problem is yet.
See my questions in https://www.photools.com/community/index.php/topic,12847.msg90740.html#msg90740 and try to anser at least some of them.

Axel creates smaller sized copies of his JPEG files to transport them. This is a quite unusual workflow.
He requests a feature to tell IMatch to not use the smaller cache images when he has access to the original JPEG files.
This is an unusual workflow and hence the request has no likes yet - except yours, probably for the wrong reasons.
Unless you also force IMatch to create smaller versions of your JPEG files in the cache - but you did not tell us that yet so I don't know.

Axel has only about 600GB of original JPEG files. It would be cheaper for me to buy a 1TB USB stick and send it to him so he can take all his images with him when he travels. No need to use resized copies of his JPEG files in the cache, no copying of files, no need for the feature he has requested.
A 1TB USB stick costs about 100US$, and for that sum I cannot design, develop, debug, test and document the feature he has requested. If not at least a couple of users have the same problem, this will not be implemented.

Hi Mario, sorry if I didn't answer what you asked me. I thought that by telling you that my problem was the same as Axel's, you would understand.

I would really like to not have to cache the JPEGs but it is the only way to be able to use the Quick View and the viewer in a large size. Some time ago I asked that the thumbnail could be scaled to 100% in Quick view, but since it is not a popular request, I have decided to use the caches.

My imatch library occupies more than 2 TB (photos and videos) and 52,000 files.
I can buy a 2TB drive and take it with me, but I find it easier to see the photos with less quality.

I understand the economic issue of development, I thought it would be easier.

Thank you anyway.

So your original question:

QuoteHow can I see the images at maximum quality in the viewer (enter hotkey) when I have cache of those images?

...
Actually the problem is that the jpg looks better outside of imatch than from the internal viewer.

meant "I have a) configured IMatch to cache JPEG files and b) in a much smaller size/quality than the original size."

This would have helped me to understand what the problem is.
It has nothing to do with image quality or how IMatch renders files from the cache (my initial thought).
It also explains why the images look 'better' in other applications than in IMatch. IMatch has to use the small cache image you tell it to create but you look at the original images in your other software.

So, problem solved for now. If you would create 100% cache images, the images would look the same in IMatch as in other applications.

You have liked the feature request made by Axel, for adding a new cache mode to IMatch.
Let's call it "Cache JPEG files at this size, but don't use the cache images when the original JPEG file can be found in the file system".

I see that it is clear.
My English is not very good, I am using a translator.
