I understand that I can drag an @Keyword category into the Favorites panel and it will create a button that will assign the keyword to selected images.  I also understand that I can drag multiple @Keyword categories into the Favorites panel and that will result in a Category splasher which will assign multiple keywords.  My difficulty is that it appears that once you create an @Keywords category splasher (or just a single category favorite) you can't add additional @Keyword categories to it.  In the Properties there is a Categories section and the notes there suggest that you can add categories to the splasher, but I have not been able to do this.  I want to create the equivalent of keyword sets as found in other DAM software, but I can't find a simple way to do this.  I need to be able to add and subtract keywords/categories to and from the splasher over time, not just at the moment of creation.  Is there a way to do this please?

You can change the categories in splashers via the properties. But this is rarely used.
Press Ctrl+Enter as directed in the dialog and paste or type the category you want to add. You can also delete or modify existing categories that way.
No category selector dialog is provided here, if that is what you are looking for?
Keep in mind that pressing Ctrl+C on a category (in the tree) copies the paths of all selected categories into the clipboard, which makes it easy to copy them into your Favorite, if you have too.

Keyword Sets you may now from other software are much easier created with Keyword Links (See Working with Links) and synonyms (Working with Synonyms).
Keyword Links basically allow you to assign any number of other keywords when you assign one keyword. Very powerful.
This way your keyword sets not only work with your favorite, but also in the Keyword Panel and other keyword-based features.

Mario, many thanks for your rapid response as always. That works. Where I was going wrong is that on copy and paste into the Categories panel of the Properties box I was getting "@Keywords|Where|...[the rest of the heirarchical keyword]" and I was deleting @Keywords|Where| as I did not want those to appear as flat IPTC and XMP keywords. I now understand that @Keywords is required in order to make the category "stick" in the Categories panel, and that on assignment to a file @Keywords does not appear in the keywords panel at all (and in my case Where does not appear because in my Thesaurus Group Level for that word is set to Yes).

The @Keywords Category dynamically reflects the hierarchical keywords in your files (and the IMatch database).
@Keyword categories have some special features, like adding the corresponding keyword when you assign files to them.

If you leave out parts of a category path, the assignment will not work. Or not in the way you think.
The same applies to assignments made to @Keywords. Only when you use the full path, the keyword will be assigned.
