.3GP video files not indexed by Imatch (on virgin installation)

I came across some .3gp video files (VLC plays them) and wanted them indexed by Imatch.

I added them under file formats. On my main computer Imatch does index the files and does show thumbnails.

On a new computer with virgin Win 10 and a virgin Imatch installation the .3gp files do not get indexed?
(meaning the files do not show up in the file window).
(I did add the format in Imatch under file formats!)
Explorer shows the thumbnails of the files!

What could be the problem?

Hm, here this works.
But since it works for you on the main-computer, then it is curious.
Here my 3gp under Fileformats, but you have done it also.
(and of course done a forced rescan of the folder with the 3gp)

Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Why do hardware vendors always invent new file extensions. In most cases of these renamed video formats, it's just a MP4 container anyway.
I have added .3GP (any other extensions your phone uses?) now as a standard format to IMatch.

I recommend you remove the user format and instead change the V:\develop\IMatch5\plugins\ptpiconfig.xml file to include the .3GP extension while IMatch is NOT running.
Search for

<ext>.360</ext>

and add

<ext>.3GP</ext> below it.
This way your setup will be compatible with the next IMatch release.

Unfortunately there is no standard organization for file extensions and no "list" I could subscribe to to get info about new file extensions camera or phone vendors invent for their products...
I only learn about new file extensions from users who ask about it.

No clue, I do know nothing.
But I have such formats since 2005!

Ah, that's an ooold format, then. From the Internets:

Quote3GP (3GPP file format) is a multimedia container format defined by the
Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for 3G UMTS multimedia services.
It is used on 3G mobile phones but can also be played on some 2G and 4G phones.

I have one .3GP video (NOKIA phone), that was not indexed, YET! :)

ubacher

I was looking at C:\Program Files\photools.com\imatch6\plugins\ptpiconfig.xml
but I can not find .360 ???

But coming back to my original question: why does it work on on system but not on another?

I can not find it, either. (The fix will have it.)

Mario

Then search for

<ext>.INSP</ext>

Quotewhy does it work on on system but not on another?

No idea. Do you have the user format set up on both computers?

Adding the extension to the config file is preferred.

It works now. .3PG files  are displayed.
Not sure where the problem was.
