Can anyone help me with this problem.

I started working with on1 photo raw and found out that the generated jpg's are not show in the viewer.
Affinity Photo, Windows, Chrome don't have any problems in showing the images.

There are no problems with the tumbnails, nor adding/changing exif data.

I've added one of those problem jpg's.

Thanks

Ronny

I have the same problem - jpgs generated by ON1 Photo Raw are not displayed in the Viewer. Interestingly, Slideshow works just fine.

@Ronny: I imported the jpg you attached into my test database. It is displayed in the viewer without problems. But the forum software strips some metadata from the jpg, so maybe it is better if you put it in a zip file and attach it here. And I think Mario will want a log file in debug mode, as usuallay  ;)

Your jpg image displays fine for me in thumbnail & Viewer. When I run WIC Diagnostics on it, the codec is identified as 'JPEG Decoder' (which I assume is the Windows default). FWIW, I use FastPictureViewer Codec Pack for my raw images.

QuoteTesting file 'C:\imatch5beta\Pictures\Temp\20170710_173441_DSCF1178.jpg'

   Preview: Codec 'JPEG Decoder'
(GetPreview failed (88982F81 The operation is unsupported.).) 0x0 pixel in 0 ms.

+1 for Thorsten's comments.

If the image does not load in the Viewer and Quick View Panel but as a thumbnail and in the Slide show, the problem is the installed WIC codec for JPEG in Windows.

Which is bad, because it indicates that the JPEG files your other software produces is incompatible with the JPEG processing in Windows.
Or there is some metadata in the file that causes the processing to fail.

IMatch uses DirectX for rendering images in the Viewer and QuickView Panel, and loads the cache images using Windows WIC for this purpose.
For the Sldie Show IMatch uses its internal JPEG renderer (for historical reasons). Also for thumbnails.

This means that when Windows WIC cannot handle your JPEG files, IMatch cannot use them in the Viewer and QVP.

Please attach a ZIPped copy of your file to prevent any modification by the forum software.

On my computer, the (un-)zipped version doesn't display in the Viewer or Quick View (unlike the zipped version).

I can confirm that: The jpg in the ZIP does not display. I get some error in the log file:

Thanks thrinn for the error, when searching the forum I now found this post :
https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=5355.0

Then as Mario suggested repaired the images using exiftool

exiftool -all= -tagsfromfile @ -all:all -unsafe -icc_profile *.jpg

and they are now again viewable.

So now I'm contacting on1 to see what they can do.

Thanks

The error message basically means "The bitmap format is unknown or one or more of the image attributes are unknown or unsupported". This looks like some sort of non-standard JPEG file to me. Never had that before. Sounds like a bug in your other software.

For so far as I've been able to analyse/understand the header of the jpg file, an exif header can have an icc_profile embedded in it they have placed the icc_profile before the exif tag.

Running a clean up with the exiftool removes the icc_profile and the file works.

Messed around in a binary editor and moved the icc_profile in the exif tag, and it opens also (only the exif data gets scrambled - I'm not that good with a binary editor ;)

So I mailed what I found to on1, and I hope they'll read it. In the mean time I'm going to clean the exif data with exiftool.

Thanks for the help.
