Setup: Imatch 5 on Sager laptop i7 M820 1.73 1.73ghz - 8 gb ram
           running win7 64 bit

Pretty sure I'm really not getting how to setup the view of metadata I want to see when I click an image.

I want pretty basic stuff:  Images size in px - image size/weight on disk in bytes
ISO - fstp - file name - last modified

Probably could get all that in the dashboard.

However what I see is pretty much nothing.... for example: in the attached image you see two different screen
shots.  1 taken with image1 selected and one taken with Image2 selected.

The images have many differences yet the only thing I see changing is the histogram
The panel is what I get by clicking Tools / Panels /Metadata.

As you can see, the metadata heading is twirled open but there is nothing at all inside.
Nothing is changing in the dashboard although there are differences that should show there

So to get a default view that displays the list of stuff above... where do I find a description of how to do that?

Can you attach a small version of one of your images that display like this to your next reply?  Looks to me like it has no metadata to display.

There is no chance at all that they do not have metadata.  I've attached an image with 4 screen grabs combined into one image

It shows the same 2 file viewed in IM on the first row, then on the second row, again the same two viewed in adobe bridge
and displaying the metadata AB finds within them.

[Sorry, in an effort to keep the size down I may have made it a bit hard to see what AB is displaying... you may have to blow it up at the other end.]

Sorry, I wasn't clear last time.  I meant I'd like you to zip and attach an example image so I can see if its metadata displays correctly on my machine.  You would have to zip it because this forum strips metadata from uploaded images that have not been zipped.  Also the attachment size is limited to 2mb so it has to be a small image.

It really was what you said the first time.  I just didn't follow it.

Here it is this time.  Its a *.tif inside the zip

I see lots of data in this image.
Maybe IMatch had problems reading metadata from that image on your system? Do you see metadata for other images?
Try this: Right-click the image and then choose "Rescan now" from the menu while holding down <Ctrl> to get the extra options. Here, use the "Reload Metadata!" option.

The exif seem somewhat truncated, but it should at least show 1/60 at F 5.0...

It contains a lot of Adobe (ACR 8.3) edits.

Francis

PS In fact it is the makernotes that are missing, the exif look OK :)

Mario

IMatch shows 288 metadata tags for this file.
That the maker notes are missing is normal when the TIF file was produced by LR/Photoshop because they don't copy them (may vary by version and source format, Adobe does not really document this).

Didn't want to leave this hanging so here is my report:
Since I raised this issue I've had reason to recreate my IM5 working db.
In the recreated db, meta data is showing up as expected.

Thanks for putting in some time thinking about what might be going on.
