Title: Excluding drive from IWV
Post by: DigPeter on October 23, 2017, 11:04:49 PM
My database, copied from IM2017, includes file from both C & G drives.  In iwv I only want to to view files in the  drive.  is it possible to exclude the other (G) drive?

Use an ACL to restrict access to folders. See Access Control Lists in the IMA documentation.

Thanks - I will look at that.

The problem with ACL is that it set through "Enable authentification". For the target user, setting this up is very complex for the non-tech savvy user (me), requiring defining users, creating a user group and creating a password, in addition to creating the ACL.  My computer account is already password protected and I do not want another layer of protection and another password to remember.  Would it be possible to set a general folder exclusion and/or inclusion in the initial configuraation dialog?  If so  will put it in Feature Requests.

ACL is the concept implemented by IMWS for this purpose.

Setting up a second concept just for you is not possible, sorry.
Either use a separate database which does only include the folders you want to publish via IMWS, or setup a user group with one or more folder ACLs.

Not helpful for your target user, who would struggle with the whole authentication process.  Nor is it convenient to keep separate databases up to date for this purpose.   I hope your next release makes it worth persevering with IMA.   >:(

So far, this came never up as a problem.

IMatch Anywhere has so far been very well received. IMatch Anywhere 2.0 will be even better.

Enabling authentication and setting an ACL to hide a disk from all users is really easy to do. Let us know if you need assistance with that.

That you then have to log in with a user and password in your browser is only a minor inconvenience.
You can set your browser to remember the user name and password and the only extra step is then clicking or tapping the log-in button when you start a new IMatch Anywhere session.
One click/tap more than before, that's tolerable.
