Title: iImporting Metadata
Post by: jelvers on October 09, 2017, 05:16:49 PM
When I add files to a certain directory I use <shift><F5> to import the necessary metadata and get the thumbnails pics. However I get the impression that Imatch is then checking all files in that directory in terms of adding and updating files, as if ALL files need a metadata update. This takes quite some time.

I remember that this wasn't the case earlier and only thos files were processed which actually were new or changed.

Is there something I may have to change in the preferences? But what?

When you us this command you tell IMatch to rescan the folder, check for new and updated files.
IMatch has found several hundred new or updated files and does it's job. I don't see a problem.

If some of the files were in the database before, their "last modified" timestamp on disk was newer than recorded in the database. Maybe check your workflow and other software to find out why this can happen.

Do you use the default settings in IMatch (background scans)? IMatch usually does all this automatically, without the user needing to rescan folders manually.

Thanks, Mario. Stupid me, I actually had not switched on the automatic background scan.
