Title: Grouping in the file window
Post by: stephock on March 17, 2020, 02:53:39 PM
Is it possible to group in the file window?

What I mean is, select a sort order, let's say a date function, and then have the file window display each date separately, in a similar way to the folder hierarchy display?

(I've used date as an example, I know I have a timeline for this...)

The File Window can group by folders/sub-folders, categories, collections and timeline nodes. See The Hierarchical Display Mode (Displaying files in sub-folders, child categories etc.) (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#fw_basics.htm?dl=h-33)

It cannot group by arbitrary metadata, attributes or variables. If this is what you have in mind.

If you need something like that, consider creating a data-driven category which groups by whatever metadata you want. Then display this category in the File Window with hierarchical display on.

Thanks for that, Mario. And I thought I'd checked the help pages pretty thoroughly. Just shows you. I'll have a loom at the data-driven categories.
