Title: Build 116
Post by: sinus on September 16, 2013, 08:34:23 PM
Here the download (firefox) and installation went smooth and without problems.
And the glitch in the data-driven-cat with start and length is solved. Thanks!

Downloaded and installed.
No problem!
Indeed I found that the start is smoother and also the general usage.
Still playing with this great software.

Hi,

also from my side: no problems with installing 116 ...

now busy (since 18:00) to update metadata from 6.500 files .... at moment 1.700 has to be updated, IM shows 81%, 34 min.

In 114 it was not possible, there the process stops after ca. 15 sec.

Regards
Gerd

P.S. maybe, there is a quicker way, to get rid of this bloody yellow pencil, where no info is behind. I set them to rating 1, changed one field in the metadata and now, after "Reading Metadata" pic by pic is disappearing from the Collections "Rating 1"  ... hopefully also the yellow pencils ....

This is a very specific issue with your database. Normally the pencil is only displayed when there are pending write backs (and the pen tooltip will tell you what has changed). You can reset the pending state by reloading the metadata of the files (<Ctrl>+<Rescan>, then Reload Metadata). This will reset the pending state of the file, unless you have enabled protection of unwritten data under Edit > Preferences > Metadata 2.

Mario, I see this quite often. The yellow pencil is there  but it displays no list of changes to write.

It is often JPGs. I thought these were files in wait of a versioning operation, but no, they have full metadata.

In the capture you see 11787.nef with pencil but nothing to write. 11790.nef (the file under focus) was the same. I did a CTRL-F5 "force update", the pencil went away, there was some disc activity but nothing was really written.

- If I compare the two files in exiftoolGUI they are identical
- they have no xmp, only iptc
- they do not show up in Collection/Metadata not written
- protect unwritten metadata is not active (but I cannot be certain it was OFF when the files were processed, it was almost never ON, and is OFF right now)

The only way I found to get rid of the pencil is a forced update, which takes time and does (apparently) nothing

When does the pencil appear, after which command or function?

Alas, this I cannot say. I spot the files with pencil when I peruse the IMatch file explorer, don't know what created them. Since they are always a lot in a folder I suppose it was by changing some metadata, and then moving away instead of writing back immediately.

Next time I see it created I will make a note and take a snap of the log file;
