Title: Assign a file/group of files to multiple categories
Post by: Mach325 on May 06, 2018, 05:14:16 PM
Hi,

I am starting to use Imatch again - the last version I used was 3.6.

In Imatch 3.6 I could define a button to assign a file or a group of files to multiple categories with a single mouse click. I cannot remember what the feature was called in Imatch 3.6. Is there a similar feature available in Imatch 201714.2?

Thank you for your help.

Neil

Welcome back!  There are tons of different options to assign files to a single or multiple category in new latest version... of particular interest to you will be category splasher favorites where you can setup multiple categories as a favorite and assign/unassign files using the "button".  Check out the online help about this here: https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#fav_basics.htm

Enjoy!

You can create a Category Favorite for this purpose. A Category Favorite can assign one or multiple categories to a file with a single mouse click or keyboard shortcut.

See IMatch Help: https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#fav_basics.htm?dl=h-7

If you are stepping up from a historical IMatch 3 version you should make yourself aquatinted with all the changes introduced since then. Especially with the powerful Keyword functions, synonyms, Keyword groups and similar features. Maybe you want to do some of the things you did in the old days with categories now with keywords.

Check out the video tutorial on working with Keywords and Metadata in the IMatch Learning Center (https://www.photools.com/imatch-learning-center/).
