Title: Can you restore a deleted category?
Post by: petej on July 02, 2017, 10:58:27 PM
While trying to delete an image in the File Window, I accidentally deleted a whole category!  (Don't know how this happened) Is there a way to get it back?  Can I restore it from an IMatch backup?  If so, how?
Thanks!

IMatch does not delete categories by accident. It will always prompt you.

1. Did you try the Edit > Undo command? Keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Z.

2. You can restore your entire database from backup.

3. If this is not possible (you did too many changes since the last backup) you can

3.1 Restore the database into another folder.
3.2 Open that database in IMatch.
3.3 Use the Category Export in the Import & Export Panel to export the category deleted in the other database.
3.4 Close the backup database and open your real one.
3.5 Use the Category Import in the Import & Export Panel to import the category.

Mario,
Thank you very much!  Vielen Dank! I will try your suggestion 3.

I'm not blaming IMatch....the "accident" was caused by the operator.   :'(

I had been using the delete key to reject files.  I must have accidentally highlighted the category and, not looking at the prompt carefully, assumed that it was for rejecting the file when it was actually asking about the category.  Dumb move on my part.....

Next time: Press STRG+Z or go to Edit > Undo to get your category back.
