Title: Change color of title bar if file filter is active
Post by: ubacher on August 13, 2014, 09:31:31 PM
Currently if a filter is active the title bar changes to blue.
If a search is also active nothing changes and it is easy to miss the fact that a file search  is active.
( If no filter is active and a search is active the funnel changes to a binocular - so this is OK.)

I propose that the title bar color changes (other than blue) when a search is active. See mock-up screen shot.

Yes, this I support strongly.
If I enter something in the search-bar, like in your attachment, the search starts, and all what happens, that the file-windows is dimmed a bit. If I look not very good, and the search takes some time (1-3 minutes), it is not easy to see, if the search is still going.

What could be also a big help, would be a normal box, like it was in IM3, where I can see roughly, how long the search is still going.

But the feature request from Ubacher would help a lot.

The search is usually very fast.
What do you search for? In how many files? How large is your BD? Logfile?
Please open a new thread for this in General Discussion. This does not belong in a feature request post.

This request is not about performance, but about using a third color for the caption bar in case a filter is active and the search bar is active.

Yes, you are correct. But I was not complaining about the speed!!
I wrote finally almost the same what Ubacher wrote, that it is easy to miss the fact, that a search is active.
This is the same, what I also think like Ubacher and therefore I support his feature request.

I wrote only, than a "progress-box" would also help, because then I know also, that a search is active!  8)
But you can forget this box and also about the speed. No problems.

So no need to open another thread for me, I support simply the Ubacher's request.

Actually the search should be so fast you don't need to wait.

But it makes a difference if you search the entire database or just 100 files. I can't say more helpful things if you don't say more or answer my questions.

I would like to invigorate this feature request. It has been side-tracked a bit by Sinus's search progress bar request.

The original request was:
I propose that the title bar color changes (other than blue) when a search is active.
