Title: IMatch Crash
Post by: Darius1968 on July 10, 2014, 10:53:08 PM
I was rescanning this folder:
C:\Users\User\Documents\

The operation about completed, but then there was an error message to the effect that ffdshow.dll could not be loaded.  A few seconds after that, IMatch crashed and closed!  I'm trying to attach the log file to this post, but it is over 2 MB, even after being compressed!  The original was about 92 MB.

ffdshow.dll is a video codec, used to process and render videos or audio files. This component is not part of IMatch.
Most likely you have some video files in your Documents folder and IMatch asked Windows to render a thumbnail for these. Windows used the codec mentioned above and this codec then crashed or Windows could not load. Windows then for some reason forced IMatch to close.

Did IMatch offer a DUMP file (you see a message box where IMatch tells you what happened and where to retrieve the DUMP file)?
I see no errors in the log file, only some warnings about unsupported file formats (which are normal for non-image formats).

It's hard for me to recall, but the error message, I think, was Windows generated, and not something that IMatch popped up.

This makes it almost impossible do determine why Windows closed IMatch. Crash in a third party DLL outside of IMatch... no way to find the reason for this.
