Title: How to Export Favorits?
Post by: Lord_Helmchen on June 29, 2014, 05:28:08 PM
I want to export settings I made from Favorites Panel into another DB (to be precise: into an older version of the same DB, as the new DB has some physical errors after a crash).

Is this possible, or do I have to recreate it all again?

Thanks!

Categories cannot be exported. Many Favorites contain "links" to internal database objects, and these cannot be used in another database.

Even when it's the "same" DB? What a pity, but I expected that.

Yes, even if is a older DB. The older DB will have all the Favorites anyway. Unless you created new Favorites in the newer DB that is.
It would probably cost me 20 to 30 work hours to implement a Favorite Import/Export feature between databases. Would you think this time is well spent? If so, add a feature request.

Why has a crash damaged the database? Which errors are reported?
I crash IMatch databases for fun. I always stop IMatch in full run in my debugger to save time when analyzing things. This is basically the same as an IMatch crash. So far I had never a bad database. Only file system or network errors or power failures may damage a database. At least under normal conditions.

Personally I'd find that a nice feature - but I think there are more urgent things than that and don't know how often I would need this in "normal live".

I plan to create a bug report about the crash, but was pretty busy the weekend. I still have the corrupt DB and could run a diagnosis and send you the log file, if you like.
