Title: Renamer: Global Sequence Number: Can it be reset other than manually?
Post by: ubacher on May 12, 2014, 09:02:30 PM
I like to rename my files with the (date+)  global sequence number.
This number I set to 1  each day. Currently I have to do this manually at the start of each day/renamer use.
Is this sequence number available as a variable so it could be reset via a script? Or some other way.

(If I put a favorites entry for my renamer it will not present the menu - so I have to open it via Ctrl-F2. Inconvenient.)

I can implement this functionality by adding my own variable and having it auto-increment. Here the question about resetting the variable is:

What facilities does IM have to SET variables? Can it be done by script only?

You cannot set variables, variables are for display only. But for most variables you can access the underlying metadata value via scripting.
The renamer "variables" are not accessible from the outside.
There is no feature to reset the global sequence number used in the Renamer automatically daily or otherwise.
