As reported in the bug thread at https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=2038.0 I have just added some 33000 images to an existing database.
I am now experiencing the same behaviour described in my post of last year: https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=818.msg9163#msg9163 .
The database is continually going through a cycle of reading, adding & updating often followed by a "tip" that this has finished, only to start again. Each time this happens with a variable low number of files: e.g. 6, 22 etc. IM has now frozen with 0 files in the queue and the statement "Reading metadata (100%)" at the bottom of the work area. I had to use the task manager to exit the program. The log file is on dropbox at https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxwih0s0m25iixz/IMATCH5_LOG.zip .
@Mario Please let me know if you want this added to the bug report mentioned above or as a new bug.
After optimise and compact, IM is now performing more satisfactorily. But I have just had another "no response". I had been applying labels, deleted one file and had written back metadata. The blue 'busy' circle appeared, would disappear and reappear when ever I clicked on the window. The background processing icon at the bottom of the window remained visible. Eventually the "no response" dialog came up. I let Windows (7) try to resolve the problem, but eventually IM closed.
I have added the log file to the dropbox link given in the last post.
Later
Opened IM and assigned a keyword (Slide show, via thesaurus to 161 files. Created new data driven category (South Africa + Slide show). Write back metadata. The write back took about 3 minutes and subsequent updating took 5 to 6 minutes, while the system was locked. Log file added to link.
