Setup: Running Im5 [...] 146 on win7 (newly reinstalled)
First let me say that my setup has changed radically because of major crash/burn of the OS. Now rebuilt, and with undamaged non-OS data reinstalled.
So, the OS and Imatch has been newly reinstalled.

Somehow, in re-initializing the database retrieved from previous crashed OS, and having added and subtracted small amounts of images since reinstall of Im5.... (NOTE: The new setup has been up for about 3 weeks now)
I see I have picked up a phantom folder that is a near duplicate of main image hierarchy.
I'm not sure when this appeared but think within last few days. Not sure what I may have been doing just prior to this phantom showing up.
You can see in the attached screen grab how I have two main top level directories with the same name but a somewhat different count of contents.
So I have
\\m2\m2-d\
.......ImageDB\(0 / 1446)
.......ImageDB\(0 / 1602)
\\m2\sg-ext-2t
(NOTE: The last entry is another main hierarchy currently offline. There are also problems there but they have been extant longer and have been posted about in a different thread.)
There must be massive duplication in the db that does not actually exist on disc.
After installing [...] 146 I ran a rescan of disc but the phantom remains. I suppose I could simply 'remove from database' but would like to know what might cause something like this.
Or if I should have my image files organized in some different way.

How this same area is seen by my file browser can be seen the second screen grab.
Briefly put, it only sees one ImageDB directory.
Any ideas of what may be causing this or of what to do about it?

Have you run Database Diagnostics and Compact and Optimize since you rebuilt your computer?

Yes, twice. The last time being just shortly before posting the message
Show the full path of the two ImageDB folders.
They may existing in totally different levels on your disk, but if added without their parents they can show up like this.
Click on each folder and look at the information displayed in the properties panel.
It lists media id and serial number and the full physical path of each folder.
