I'm trying to create an alias category but I d'on't see "paste as alias category" in the contextual menu...
can you help me ?
Hi. welcome to the IMatch user community.
Click the category for which you want to create an alias and press <Crtrl>+<C>
Click the category under which you want to create the new Alias category.
Right-click to open the context menu and there go to Clipboard > Paste as Category Alias...
The command is disabled when the selected parent category is not suitable. For example, you cannot paste Alias categories into a data-driven category, into @Keywords or @Builder

Thank you for the quick response... As I (re)discover Imatch with pleasure, reading help files is not always enough !

True. The corresponding section (from which I copied) in the help is: Using the Clipboard (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cat_alias.htm?dl=hid-3) in the Alias categories section.
IMatch is very powerful and not even I can keep everything in my head. That's why the help system is extensive and detailed. So I can look stuff up when needed ;)
Just as an FYI when I created my Alias categories I did it a little differently.
1. I created the parent Alias category where I wanted it.
2. I created the first Alias subcategory below the parent Alias.
3. Then in the Properties dialog for the Alias subcategory I clicked the 3 dot button in the Is Alias Of box and navigated to the category I wanted to add as an alias.

Yes, this is also a way to do this. It's also described in the help, in the How Alias Categories Work (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cat_alias.htm?dl=hid-2). The next section is Using the Clipboard, (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cat_alias.htm?dl=hid-3) which I used in my initial reply, since the user mentioned the context menu.
Both approaches work equally well.
