To be honest, I write these blog posts mostly for the Google bot. Google favors frequent web site updates, and likes "SEO-optimized" content. If you don't play their game and design your web site the way Google demands, they push you down in the search results. Which is bad.
For example, when you search for a
cooking recipe these days, 99% of all the hits you'll get are 10 page treatments about the history of cooking, ingredients and then, finally, on the 10th page, you'll find the 10 lines of text that are the actual recipe.
Or a 10-line recipe is wrapped in a 8 minute YouTube video, for the slight chance to monetize it.
All this is just fluff and SEO, to make the site look more important and
more betterer to Google. If the author would just write a headline, a lead-in paragraph and the recipe, Google would bury the site deep down in search results, because it thinks that the site is of little importance.
(Not only) commercial web sites are today primarily designed for the Google bot. Not for humans.
Google has completely changed (many say ruined) how web sites are written and designed by the demands Google makes regarding content and formatting.
Most "normal" people are unaware of all this. They may wonder why the have to wade through 10 pages of text for a tomato sauce recipe, but they don't know why.
Not talking about the first 2 result pages full of "Sponsored" links....😡

Might be good to mention to put an exception in the virus scanner when doing this testing.
As for me, I stopped using Google quite a few years ago. There are lots of other search engines and I bounce among them routinely while searching for something. Sadly, I'm still chained to keeping my websites Google-friendly or they'll never be seen, but I don't use the slave master for anything.
