Post by: philburton on June 08, 2024, 11:07:05 PM
Hello all,

I am a long-time Lightroom Classic user.  I have just learned how iMatch can improve my overall workflow in several areas, as much as I know about iMatch right now.  I am new to this forum community.

What is the best forum for posting qauestions about:

If it matters, I consider myself and intermediate user for Lightroom but an advanced PC user overall.

General discussions.

From your list of areas, I would say all are covered in the IMatch help very well.
Did you start there?

For example: The Universal Thesaurus (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/thes_basics.htm?dl=hid-1) for controlled keywords and taxonomies.
Lr collections and smart collections are a Lr-only concept stored in the catalog. Not accessible for IMatch.
IMatch uses Categories (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cat_basics.htm?dl=hid-1) and the very powerful Data-driven Categories (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/cat_data.htm?dl=hid-1) which can to much, much more than Lr's collections.
And there are of course IMatch's Collections (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/col_basics.htm?dl=hid-1)
For renaming files and folders, read File Management in IMatch (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/file_management.htm?dl=hid-1)
For reverse geocoding, read Reverse Geocoding (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/tools_revgeocoding.htm?dl=hid-1)
For all things related to face recognition and persons, start with people People (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/people.htm?dl=hid-1)

Feel free to post questions in general discussion if you run into an issue not covered by the usually very detailed help system.
Remember: Press <F1> in IMatch anywhere to open context-sensitive help.
