Title: [EXP] New Favorite Panel Ribbon. With Search!
Post by: Mario on November 19, 2023, 08:54:21 PM
I've finished the new Favorite Panel ribbon. And decided to include a search function.
Over time, my larger databases accumulated a fairly large number of favorites (mostly for assigning 1 to many keywords).

The search function allows me to search in the current Favorite Set and even across all activated Favorite Sets when I activate the corresponding option. In that case, the Favorites matching my search are displayed in a dedicated Result Tab in the Favorites panel. Very convenient and very useful for users with many Favorites.

Overkill for my limited needs, but I'm sure a number of other users would find this very helpful. And I don't see a downside (except for time required by Mario to implement).

The search function was very easy to implement - all the UI code was already written for the File Window search ribbon element.
I've used the search yesterday many times, quickly locating favorites across all sets and it works very well.

Of course it depends on the number of favorites you have.
According to telemetry, the maximum number of favorites is 612 and the average is 75 favorites per user.
I think the user with the 600+ favorites (not me!) will l-o-v-e the search and for the other users it will be (at times) super-helpful.
