Title: [BBD] Tag FujiFilm\Film Mode does not show existing value
Post by: Jim K. on September 07, 2023, 12:14:26 PM
Using a Fuji X-E2 there is a feature called film simulation; the selected film is stored in Exif MakerNotes in TagID 0x1401 FilmMode (see also https://exiftool.org/TagNames/FujiFilm.html).

With ExifTool installed independant of IMatch I am able to see this tag, so it is part of the jpg files.

In IMatch (using Tag Selector) I have selected the tag "FujiFilm::Main\5121\FilmMode\0" (shown under Tag selection and options as tag "FujiFilm\Film Mode").

Importing in IMatch the field is always empty instead of showing "F0/Standard (Provia)" or the coresponding Hex-Code.

PS:
Unfortunately I do not know how to upload a test image and corresponding txt file.

IMatch by default does not import all tags, especially proprietary camera-specific maker notes.
Most of these tags are useless for humans and importing them would waste a lot of space in the database.

You can configure IMatch to import additional tags via the the Tag Manager (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/rmh_config_metadata_tagman.htm?dl=hid-1). Locate the Fuji tags you are interested in, enable them and then select the files and to a Shift+Ctrl+F5 > Reload Metadata.

If the files have pending write-backs (yellow pen in the File Window), write them back first to avoid loosing your metadata changes.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

So not all tags offered as selectable in Tag Selector can really be used, understood.
I will take your advise to use the Tag Manager for this specific tag.

You can use the Show only tags with data option in the Tag Selector to hide all tags for which not at least one value exists in the database.

If you still having problems, please upload a sample image to your cloud space (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, ...) and post a link. It's hard to discuss metadata details without having an actual sample to look at.

Thank's for offering additional help.
Because of your reply and the links to the appropriate help text, it's already all done and the tag is now visible in my metadata panel!

With IMatch you have build a great and powerful software, I really like it.
