Title: Populate {File.Events.Title}?
Post by: Darius1968 on May 17, 2022, 12:46:43 PM
I know that File.Events.Title is just a variable, and that it's really the metadata to which data form other MD tags or variables can be copied.  But, I want to know if there is currently a way to import from either other variables or metadata into File.Events.Title

This variable represents the title you give your events when you create them.

But, if I have already populated, for instance, File.AT.File Info.Caption, and I decide that I want that caption to be the title of the event, is there a quick way of copying/moving that data?

"I create an event from this folder/category/selection of files and I want the value of the attribute A of file X to become the title of the event".
That would require quite some additional configuration when creating events. I think just entering the title is much quicker. And I'm quite doubtful that such a feature would be needed by many users...

If you really want to do this:

1. Create a data-driven category based on your attribute.
2. Right-click the resulting child category(ies) and select "Create events for all selected categories...". This creates one or more events, using the name of the category (aka your Attribute) as the default title.

See Creating Events from Categories (https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/events.htm?dl=h-9) in the help for details.
